Context
Metrorex is a state company that provides underground transportation services in Bucharest, Romania. It’s a brand with a history of almost 50 years that deserved a refresh of its visual identity.

Solution
The self-imposed brief was the redesign of the subway’s map to be much more user friendly. Inspired by Massimo Vignelli and his map of the New York (USA) subway, I eliminated unesential elements, I shortened the stations’ names and I draw the metro lines only at angles of 45 and 90 degrees.

I also redraw the logo and the access card. I even thought about a contactless card - this is not available at the moment.

Results
The final design of the map makes it easier to follow, shortening the mental processing time for understanding the route between the initial point and the destination.
